Hi two questions really.
Which looks more like shiny oil paint on canvas, Dye sub or Inkjet? Is anyone printing onto bith please?

Also is there such a thing as adhesive backed canvas?

Hi! I print some canvas on my inkjet. I think is all about canvas. some of them more gloss and some matt. so i thing on gloss will look shiny.

never heard about adhesive backed canvas.

I use inkjet on a good quality canvas, the finish is matt.
To get a more gloss finish you can apply a varnish.
There are different types but Glamour II giclee coating is one of the best.

I also use a good quality canvas and finish with a spray of frog juice which protects from uv etc but this also gives you a nice matt natural finish, as pablo has said the varnish will give you more of a sheen but you can also buy canvas that will do it too.

Hate to ask, but what is frog juice?

I know it's not the picture I've conjured in my head

We've tried frog juice on sublimation metal and on tests it made the image fade more quickly than on an untreated printed sheet! Frog juice comes in spray canisters and is supposed to be used to coat printed materials to protect them from UV rays.

Sorry didn't reply straight away kaz, yes Martin is right about the frog juice, I don't use it on subli items but for the canvas printed on my Epson wideformat printer. Canvases are a large part of my business and we do a lot each week. Having tried and tested several "as you do" to get the one you are happy with this is the one I have decided to stick with. I printed one 4 years ago which is still on display in the window, i'm not that lazy that I can't be bothered to refresh my window ;) but this one item is an example of the longevity of our prints. Other products are faded within 2 weeks so I think it's pretty good stuff.

Where the name frog juice came from I wonder??
There are many products out there for canvases, I personally don't like the roll on stuff even though my method works out much more expensive.

Just left a long post and somehow it's gone so here's a short one, give this company a whirl www.mandev.co.uk (http://www.mandev.co.uk). or Lion, I'm not entirely sure they have what you are after but if you call them they will point you in the right direction. They are great t deal with. There are also other alternatives/cheats to canvas prints it depends on the look you want to acheive. Sods law i cant find details but nash might be able to help me out here...i'm thinking of the box type one and the more recent inkjet diy canvas that was all over the pixel magazine recently. Any idea what its called?

Sorry goldrapt i'll have t sleep on this one. :?

Sublimation canvas here (and you don't need to buy in packs of 10 like you do from Xpres). You can mix and match...

We do a heavy weight sublimation canvas "by the metre" which some people prefer as they can just buy a couple of metres and cut pieces to size as they are needed.

http://www.thetransferpress.co.uk/acatalog/canvas.html - at the moment we have 170cm wide at the same price!!
(note to self we really must get an illustration on that page!!)

Also we have some rolls of canvas which I believe can be both sublimated and inkjet printed which we'll be offering at a "competitive" price - if someone who inkjets onto canvas would like to try a test print on some for us PM me and I'll get a sample piece to you some time next week!

Can you tell me what setting i put my Epson Inkjet printer R1900 on to print on canvas matt and satin.

I have bought this printer so i can print direct onto canvas. I have had lots of interest so want to get it right.
I have been told i can use dye or pigment ink to do this.
Would like some tips and help with this one please.

many thanks
