I have received some old black and white postcards which I scanned. The print on the transfer paper is black and white but when I transfer to a placemat or coaster I am geting a reddish tinge rather than clear black and white. Any thoughts.
Thanks,
James

If you are trying to get rid of a reddish tinge on black n white photos why would you add magenta. :o

it all depends on how you have your printer colour proprieties set up

this sound more descent. when there is no enough time or heat black wont be black. it will be grrenish, red or grey....

Thank you all for your replies but my problem persists. Some more information.
I use a Ricoh 7000 printer. Afew weeks ago I was give an old black and white postcard which I scanned and put on to a placemat . It transferred perfect with a crisp black and white image. During the week he asked for 2 more. When I repeated the exercise I am now getting a sepia effect without changing anything( to my knowledge). I have reset the default settings on the printer but no difference.
How do you insert an image and I will sent the 2 different placemats?
Regards,
James

James

At the bottom of the post message box, there are 2 tabs, "options" and "upload attachment" click on the attachment one and follow the instructions :)

did you change any thing? did you tryed print diferent b&w on diferent blank?
and is the sepia one print quality as good as b&w? if not. it may be some colours not printing so you neeed to print nozzle check.
but if the quality of prints are identical then I am sure you changed somethin by mistake.
can you print any b&w foto (diferent one then on place mat) on piece of old t-shirt or mug for us?

I have printed some car sunscreens and the text in black is brown and other colours are not right. My setup on my printer seems to be not right even though I have not changed anything on purpose.
James

well... have you done any system restore recently?
any way... I think you need instal your ICC profile again. do everything from scratch as when you bought your printer. I am sure it will help.

I print in Coral and this is my colour management profile.

Why are you changing things in Corel? You should have PowerDriver installed to print with the GX7000. You should select this as your printer (the PowerDriver Printer for the GX7000), not the GX7000 printer itself.

Where will I find the PowerDriver Printer . At the moment I select Ricoh 7000 as my printer and print using Corel or I could print direct from PhotoShop. My problem at the moment( I think) is CMYK and RGB format as my blacks are appearing as brown.

PowerDriver should have come with your Printer & Inks. It will be on the SubliJetR CD.

RGB I think is for your monitor or screen, as in Red, Green, Blue - you should be using powerdriver to print if you have a Ricoh 7000 or a profile if using a Ricoh 5050

The disc I got was GelSprinter GX 7000 . This has Driver,Manual and Ulility on it. I have been using this printer for the last 9 months and everything was fine.Only today has it caused a problem. Would System Restore to a previos date help.

I think the disc you have used is for the standard drivers for your printer - for dye sub printing you need to install the powerdriver that should have come with the inks.

Thanks for all who offered advice on my problem. I spoke to Xpres this morning and have hopefully solved the problem which was the wrong inks I was using.I source my inks from a supplier in Scotland and have been using them for a few momths now with no problems. The last cartridges I got for black and cyan were for a Ricoh 7000 but not Sublijet which I did not notice. Subsequently when I pressed them, the inks burned giving the brown colour and bad quality. I now have to flush out the system which will take approx. half a cartridge of black and half a cartridge of cyan. Make sure your inks have a Sublijet sticker on them.
Thanks again,
James
