Ok maybe a silly question but I'll ask anyway
I'm doing alot of domed resin badges at the moment for car/bike clubs which i cut on a roland and layer/dome but I'm being asked more and more for very small text and tiny logos which are to small to cut, last night after surfing the net I come across a video of t shirt vinyl being printed on (not sure what vinyl it was) then cut using reg marks with a cameo... now my question is can this be done using a vinyl that will take inkjet ink? Is there such vinyl?

Doming paper is available from MDP (http://www.mdpsupplies.co.uk/doming.asp) - liquid lens (http://www.liquid-lens.com/print_media.html) - the transfer press (http://www.thetransferpress.co.uk/acatalog/doming-media.html) - domesrus (http://www.domesrus.co.uk/consumables.html)
They are all inkjet compatible but I have found the paper varies in its ability to retain the dome acrylate. Also the strength of the adhesive backing varies too and some of my early attempts fell out of the keyrings!
So you could print on the inkjet paper and dome it as normal.
Alternatively buy some self adhesive vinyl and cut the design out and then cut the badge inserts from another sheet of self adhesive vinyl and use application tape to add the design. then dome as usual.
The cameo software allows you to print the design on an inkjet printer with registration marks and then cut it out using the cameo or craft robo.
I have cut down to 1mm detail with my craft robo and (although it took about an hour) the results were great.
Image here (http://yogiccards.com/images/black_tshirt_treeoflife.jpg)the leaves on the tree are 2-3mm in diameter. (better view of leaves on this mug (http://yogiccards.com/images/budda&loveyogamug.jpg))
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply David
I have seen the doming paper and have been tempted to try it before but never have!
The adhesive not being great is putting me off now as some of the parts I do take 40-50ml of resin so if a badge is falling from a key ring not sure these will hold up?
And some of the B pillar trims I do are longer than a A sheet :(
The idea was to print the image and then use the Cameo to cut around the outline, it wont be cutting any detail as such just around each print!
Not sure this is the way to go now DOH!, but is there another way? without getting a BN20 < which I want ha
I can cut vinyl and fit to to cars/vans/wagons, I can print on to T shirts and mugs but I cant put a little image on to a sticky back plastic LOL

The doming sheets will be no good for me ... just read this...

Please note: Whilst the resin is suitable for outdoor use, the image printed by inkjet printers is not. This does not affect promotional gifts items - only products such as Car Badges etc, which are permanently exposed to the elements of rain and UV light from the sun etc.

But maybe this could work  http://www.amazon.co.uk/Adhesive-White-Vinyl-INKJET-Printing/dp/B00DKTVH6Y/ref=aag_m_pw_dp?ie=UTF8&m=A1GU9XYZH23P7J
It would mean cutting into sheet for the printer but I cant see a reason why it wouldn't work!

pigment ink lasts well in sunlight and you don't need to worry about the rain if its domed, the vehicle grade stuff needs a nice surface to adhere too or will peel off, this vinyl normally requires laminating afterwards but again your doming. IMOA i think it will be ok but would defenately see if you could get a few samples before you buy a full log..

Thanks Prin, just sent a message to see if they will send a sample or sell a smaller amount
Off to look for a new printer now to run pigment ink
