3D sublmation Machine Review

Great review and it is something I may consider.

I can get the business doing about 50-75 per week, my only concern is the amount of time it takes to wrap the paper image to the blank. No offense Xpress as this is a brilliant demo and it is always good to see a demo by a real world user and not someone who is working on behalf of a company. But it does seem like the length of time taken to wrap a cover is quite long.

How long do you think it will take once you get familiar with the whole process?

This was also a concern of mine, does seem very tedious. I'm also concerned about the length of time certain blanks need to cook, up to 10 minutes I'm told? OK for the odd case here and there but if you have a large run...eek! I know you can do say 4 at a time.

What is the power rating on this machine?

The larger machines print much more quickly as they use a different heat technology. Using our pucks with standardised jigs all you have to do is print, lay on top of the items and let the machine do the rest. Using the larger machines would remove the need to wrap individual items. When you get into production volumes upwards of 1000 a day then individual wrapping is completely out of the question. It's about printing to a template, laying printed film over the cases in one large sheet configured in a jig to the printed template and go...

With the smaller runs then you may still wrap individually but the jig & template approach will work on a smaller scale as well.

Appreciate the different heat technologies on the larger machines. Are you saying that your pucks work with this machine Martin?

Okies so questions i see. I have just spent the last like.. 5 hours using my next to nothing photo shop skills and finally made a template. I have reduced the wrapping time to about 2 min without a tape roller cutter thingy aka cutting tape by hand. I am sure i could do it within 1 if i had a tape cutter. But please know that the way i tape it is totally different from recommended. It only requires 4 pieces of tape to do it which takes like 20 sec. I just like to tape it up XD. Yea i saw a machine as well that uses some type of film or something. Essentially it replaces the silicon and heat transfer paper. So you print on the gold paper then put it into the press and the section pulls it around without the need to tape it around cause there is already a mold thingy provided. You just mix and match. My only issue with that machine was that it was pretty expensive for a sheet of gold paper and it can print 6 cases at once while wasting plenty of paper because it has to create a seal around the whole press area.Its a cool concept and if producing huge amounts a life saver. I am old school and like to do things by hand. I am actually very handy with tools and am trying to make a auto wrap jig so that i can just place the template inside the jig, press down case with mold and tape the sides. VOILA insta wrap XD. Not sure i will post a video of me wrapping a case with my template if you guys want and i will also do one normally.

I can make 6 iphone 5 cases at a time. takes around 10 mins. Its not bad but wrapping is a killer on time. I will try and mill out a mold and if you want could send you one/made a video! Also the machine takes either 110v or 220v but it must be requested at the time of purchase. i am in canada so 110V is good for me =).

Because you started your thread talking about 'larger' machines and went on to discuss pucks, so I wanted to clarify.

Okies so i THINK your pucks are those blue things right? Aren't they just molds? Mine is an elevated one so that i can also get the front of the case (ergo those tiny lips which hold the phone in). If the pucks are something else can you post a link so i can see? might be interested in trying some.

Sup buddy, so i guess we have the same machine! We should swap notes or something. If you want i can send you once of my templates i use in photoshop to help align images. Also i think i found the best taping method which produces the best kinda quality print. Still in testing phase. Just wondering what kind of business you are aiming for. I am opening a shop up for custom designs where people order a case they want. This machine definitely is suited to crazy bulk orders like 1000. However i find that if its just a logo without needing a background for the whole case, i can tape a case in under 20 secs. Let me know your results. I will post some picks of my wrapping style or make a video.

I havent got the blue pucks. The company i bought it from had some made by a company who took the blue ones and machined new ones so the puck is deeper so it is easier to handle, and they are!
Ive also got other models en route from china for other phones. They are the silver coloured ones like in your earlier post.
Your video was good, i wrap mine very similar. I have also got the gold backed film which i have been trying out but so far its driving me nuts! I cannot get a good result, if you get to try it let me know.
I am currently working on a website for selling my products. The 3D press is part of my business as i will be selling other products aswell such as acrylic, photo panels metatl etc.
I would like to see your template if you dont mind, i have made one but it would be interesting to see yours.

3D film must be kept dry. Depending where you are using it make sure it is dry. I'd suggest putting a couple of sheets in your airing cupboard for a couple of days, print on these and then press. This should show if the moisture is causing a problem.
