The last Cobra contact I had 4 or 5 years ago, was Richard. He had been extremely helpful when I was setting up c2010. Of course he has probably moved on now - I've lost his contact details, but...
All,
Thank you all for the replies. It looks like I will be trying Sublinove.
I went to check and my previous States source is selling their sublimation ink again, so the SG stranglehold does...
Hi! I packed in sublimation printing a few years ago, but having moved house I came across my old equipment. I thought I might do a little hobby printing, just for family and friends.
I have the...
BMS,
Thanks for the reply.
The wrap is not black I'm afraid.
The plug is not the round type - see photo - and has 5 wires:
1 Black
2 White
2 Thin Reddish Brown
I assume the extra lead...
Thanks Justin, I'll give them a try.
Dave
Anybody know where I can get a new 11oz heatpad for a Mug King BJ850?
Many thanks
Dave
Might be a bit late in this thread to query definitions, but ......
When I said "image bleeding" at the start of this thread, I meant the image that had been transferred onto the mug looked like...
Laura,
Many thanks I will give it a try. I use ordinary copy paper at the moment, cut and taped outside the subli paper. This will save me the cutting and taping.
I have noticed a feint image...
Laura (just noticed your tag),
I'm quite keen on this teflon tip, cutting plain paper and taping it around the mug is a bit of the process I wouldn't miss!
Do you just leave it loose inside...
Paul,
My only 2 experiences with dunking were, first one, after removing sheets, put mug in fairly hot water (say 50C) and it cracked - it didn't just ping, you could see the crack afterwards. ...
Mrs Maggot (really?), Interesting use of a teflon sheet. Do you tape it over the sublim sheet, or attach it in some way to the heat blanket? Dave
John,
The mugs are my first box. I got them off eBay, from Coralgraph. I had no complaints about them to be honest, but I want to try the RN coated ones off BMS next.
I wondered whether minor...
Nash,
My mugs aren't from BMS - but my next ones will be.
I had raised a query on here before as to how much variation in a batch of mugs was to be expected. I've noticed that the pressure can...
Paul,
Usually I do take the paper off straight away and don't dunk. Really I am just trying to overcome the black ring bleeding slightly as the mug cools - could too much pressure be causing...
Nash,
Dropped the pressure a little, but also dunked with the paper still on. It gave me a good result, now to do a few more to check that it wasn't a flook!
Dave
Nash,
Good news, bad news. The ring didn't bleed, but the mug cracked :D
My water was the warmer side of luke warm, so I'm not sure why that happened.
I noticed that the bleed area is more...
Hi!
I'm printing some mugs with a black ring around the top and bottom of the mug, and a couple of images and some text in the centre.
I've backed the rings away from the edges as I was...
Kaz,
I was wondering with all the talk of 180 secs. The 60 secs was suggested by people using the same inks. I have though contacted the supplier to check what they recommend.
The results...
John,
I upped the pressure a bit, and it seems OK. I'll probably leave a bit of a gap top and bottom and avoid the problem in the future. Interesting on temps and timing. I'm using 185 degrees...
Kaz, I was wondering if it would reset the timer. My press timer starts counting down after it reaches the set temp (185C) - I've never taken a mug out halfway through, easy enough to find out I...
Mark, It's my first box of mugs, so I'm not sure, are slight variations not the norm? We are talking maybe 1mm variations. I thought the extra pressure would maybe compensate for that? Dave
TPM, Thanks. I had wondered whether putting the mug in upside down would make any difference. Would taking the mug out halfway through upset the countdown timer? Dave
Alligiftor, Thanks for that - means I have to print another mug.
Im still looking for any general rules though for changing time versus temp versus pressure. What are the tell tale signs for...
Hi! Just printed my first half a dozen mugs. Very happy with results, although there were some variations although I didn't change any settings for time, temp or pressure. I suspect these slight...
