We use Chromaluxe in one of our lead product ranges. Recently Unisub have started printing the Chromaluxe branding repeatedly across the back of the panels. A range of our products overnight have been devalued and put in jeopardy. We don't want other people knowing that materials/suppliers etc we use, and equally it is confusing to have our branding on the back of a product, along with Chromaluxe.
I spoke to Xpres about this, and this is a permanent change, and there is no alternative - even if we were to pay more per sheet, or buy more sheets.
Apparently, this change was to build the Chromaluxe brand, but also to combat other companies passing off competing products as genuine Chromaluxe. So, ironically, something they said that they have done to build loyalty to their brand, has lost our loyalty and commitment to their product. If we could find an alternative printable sublimation metal which was a sturdy 1mm thickness we would be jumping ship tomorrow, and buying in quantity on a regular basis.
We've seen the quality of the Chromaluxe coating go down in the past 6 months or so, with a lot more chipping and peeling off than we used to see, despite being reassured that nothing has changed.
We've already started talks with a number of local factories with a view to producing our own coated metals, as we have been uneasy about being so reliant on one supply chain, but it's taking time to get things going, although we have found UK government funding towards the project once we're ready to go.
If anyone has leads on other 1mm thick aluminium that is readily available, please post here or PM me.
