    Starting up help

Hi. I am looking in to starting a hoodie, polo shirt, T-shirt and cap printing business. What equipment/brand of equipment would you recommend and why please. Thanks

There is no magic one answer that fits all.

I'm afraid you are going to have to lock yourself away for a week and do a lot of reading.

Looking at your location I'd strongly recommend a visit to Xpres at Castle Donnington, one of the best showrooms you'll find with some great equipment. Even if you don't buy from there it will give you a great insight.

Suppliers are often more important than the equipment, if you have great after sales you can get a cheaper or more complicated setup, as you've got the support if you need help getting set up or have problems.

There's a lot of very expensive kit out there and I'm not sure it's needed, don't get me wrong I've seen some really nice 2 platen automatic presses that made my man parts tingle but when your looking at 2 very similar swing presses double the price doesn't always mean double the quality.

I would say avoid 928734 in 1 presses as a failure means production of everything stops, and when you've got 20 t-shirts, 15 hats and 5 mugs to press you don't want to have to fiddle with changing platens while hot and if you get your timing right you can swap one thing over while you wait for something else to press (40seconds is a very long time when you have a lot to do!)

i would also look at attending a trade show at nec. printwear and promotion or trohpex, good insight into the industry.
