SunAngel White Toner Printer - Advice Reqd

    Hello,

I'm looking at purchasing this printer in the next few weeks.. is there anything I should be aware of. I understand the C711WT works out cheaper long term.. but thats out of my budget atm. The main points I've noted are:

Possible registration issues. - I have a OKI C841 which I'll be using as my CMYK printer.
Image editing - The image needs to be turned into a 'red' image... not sure how easy this would be with complex designs

I have had some samples from Annie and I was happy with the quality..

Any advice/pointers from anyone already using the printer would be great :)

the challenges of using a white laser as quite conciderable anyhow - and the 2 part media is costly, - from what I have heard the 2 printer system is a poor compromise, even if you use 2 identical printers!

Well DTG is an alternative .. but it's more expensive and the printer needs to be used everyday to stop the heads from clogging.

I ended up buying the SunAngel White toner printer in the end ..

Fantastic, maybe sometime you could cobble together your thoughts on it as a user please?

Not had chance to test it properly.. only pressed using the white toner.. and was happy with the results. I own a OKI C841 so will test it properly this week.

Been to busy with other things to try it properly, but I had one try with the new ULtrabrite Pro 3 paper. It now says it is good for up to 100 washes. My one test proved OK with a clean peel. Getting a clean peel with the older paper was my biggest problem. Now if the paper was cheaper, as at £170 ish for a box of 100 sheets it still a tad expensive.
Anyways will try and print something this week and post an image.
    Cheers

Well I decided to do a test using my OKIC841 and White toner Printer. There is some cracking and a registration issue.

Looks good, Cannot see the cracking.... Registration is a little bit of a problem. What I have seen on some videos is to contract the white layer in Photoshop a few points smaller than the colour layer so there is no bleed through of the white.
    Cheers

Thanks KathG. I followed a video guide by TTP on youtube.. I did contract the image but only by a 3 pixels.. instead of the 6 on the video. Don't really want to contract the white ink too much.

The cracking is visible on the colours.. do I need to use a lint roller before applying?

I will do some more testing on the registration by

Printing out a box outline on my colour printer
Print it on the white printer using the Black only..

It may just be that I need to move the red layer around by a few pixels..
