I'm a big fan of DPD and DPD Local, most of my white label suppliers use them and their tracking is excellent. I normally buy through Parcel2go and DPDLocalOnline (free insurance up to £50).

I agree about DPD, mostly just try to avoid MyHermes who are really bad. I use parcels2go to book them too, with the added perk that if you add £100 credit to your account with them you get a 5% top up for free. It all adds up.

dont go for cheapest, try the most reliable, it works out better in the end.

I tried to buy a box of 36 mugs that was sent by FEDEX.

The first time I had to put in a where's my stuff message and was given a reply by the supplier with a tracking number to say it had been delivered. Queried the claim it had been delivered back to the supplier and not me by FEDEX.

Supplier sent it back out to me only for the parcel to be damaged in transit and box returned to supplier by FEDEX without it making it to me,

Supplier tried a third attempt at sending it to me with FEDEX only for me to have to send another where's my stuff query. Supplier sent me the tracking to show it was delivered which again I had to query. Turned out that yet again it had been delivered back to supplier without an attempt to deliver to me.

Supplier was told by FEDEX it was too dangerous to deliver to me. No other supplier has issues with delivering to me.

3 weeks of trying to get a simple box of mugs delivered failed. In those 3 weeks I had 5 separate overnight deliveries arrived from Listawood though DPD.

I never buy anything from any supplier that uses FEDEX because I know I will not have it delivered and I'm wasting my time and tying up money until I can submit a INR claim or charge back on my credit card.

First question should always be who is the most reliable.

I'm always happy to pay a little more for delivery if I know it is coming through DPD.

Whaaat? Fourteen quid to send a 1.9kg parcel from Newcastle to London in 3 - 4 working days? I don't think so!

Out of all the sites I've seen, Parcel2Go is probably the best one I've seen - out of all of the options, I would by far prefer to have a delivery made by DPD (even if it means paying a few pound extra compared to the likes of Hermes)
