Ricoh SG2100N sublimation print image yellowing issue

Hello all,I'm new to sublimation so please bear with me.

I bought a startup sublimation kit which included a Ricoh SG2100N printer (with Dye Sub Ink).

When pressing to mugs, any font / vector images etc look really good but any photo images are yellowing. From what I'm reading here on the forum, I think I need an ICC profile to fix the problem, is this correct please? If so...

    • Where do I source an ICC from please?
    • What details do I need to supply in order to get the perfect ICC profile (ie, I would guess printer model and Ink types?)

    Separately...

As you can see, I'm a total novice and any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you x

Yes, you will always need an ICC profile. Did you buy the setup from a company? If so can they provide a profile? 'Paul; on here can do profiles but he's always very busy so you may have to wait a short while (Discount with Premium Membership)

You need to know what make of subli ink you have in the printer. Otherwise when you come to refil you'll have to flush the old ink out and get another profile for the new ink.

I've never used the Subli Sharp ink but Ink Express are an excellent company and i do buy other inks from them. They may be able to offer the profile.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but if it was me I'd ditch the 2100 printer and go for an SG3110DN or something similar for starting up. The 2100, although it works, is not the greatest for sublimation and swapping it out may save you some grief further down the line.

Thanks Justin, unfortunately, the set-up company we have purchased from is proving difficult and so I cant go requesting help from them sadly. Basically, very abusive owner who has sold us faulty kit.

I will have to speak with Paul about the icc profile. Thanks for that

Good to know about Ink Express, I'll be sure to make sure the ink we get is the same. thanks very much x

I literally have no more set-up funds, so Im stuck with the 2100. The kit cost me £2k and it seems Ive been sold a load of rubbish :(

I use the 2100, alternating with the 3110; never had a problem with either. I would get a profile or just go the settings (assuming you use Photoshop or PS elements) and reduce the output of yellow.
