Homemade Mug Wraps

I got an idea that instead of buying a special wrap for every mug type I have, I might instead make my own wraps.

Is there anyone who already tried this? If so, can you share how it it all went?

Was a gent on Facebook who was making his own wraps.

Silicone sheet, folded at ends and stitched to make a pocket,

The inserted a threaded rod through each and popped a locking nut top and bottom, was then using S hooks to close the wraps.

From what i recall he was fairly successful in the images he posted, but dont know about durability.
