    starting up again

    I have a Ricoh GXe3300n that i haven't used in a couple of years.

Today i have decided to start printing again but when i print out the colours are pretty rubbish. i have done a nozzle check and the pattern is fine but when i print onto the mug the colours aren't showing and it looks more like an old fashioned rustic type picture.

i have also printed a colour pallette and all colours are printing out as pink/red etc.

anyone got any ideas what is wrong? should i just be buying new inks or am i maybe using the wrong print settings?

sorry to be so vague but as mentioned i haven't done any printing for a good couple of years so i am like a newbie!!!

Hi Julie-Anne, great to see you back here :-)

Are you using Sawgrass inks? Either way, those inks will most definitely be out of date and this will make a huge difference. before you start looking at settings etc. i'd be getting new inks. Possibly a deal on a new printer with inks to be sure :-)

Try taking carts out of printer and giving them a bit of a shake, as the ink particles will likely have settled at the bottom overtime, so your printer isn't pulling the full ink mixture. Then do some head cleans to see if it gets things going again.

As Justin said, the ink will be out of date and will most likely have separated. My first port of call would be either a new set of ink cartridges or a replacement new printer with ink to suit.

Just go to ink express, get your 4 colours + re-fillable carts and flush out the system via 2 or 3 head cleans, you should be good to go then at a fraction of the price and with great inks!
