    could anyone help please.

    Hi.

I do alot of coasters for local artists and also do mugs, keyrings, tins etc.

I have only ever done 1 t-shirt for my son.
I have had a request for a ladies tee size 12 but quite long with the text:

    Breathe....
    and count
    to Zen...

And also with a flower or butterfly in top left.

Trouble is I only have a a4 printer and don't want to pay out for one just for one tee

Would anyone be interested and a rough price please.

    TIA

Could you not print the wording over 2/3 A4 pages? Ah, you don't have the tee in stock either? lol.

Trying to build business, so finding it difficult to turn anything away, she may come back with more orders or tell friends.

I think UK Printed Mugs makes a very valuable point. I too try to turn away as little as possible as the local market is very difficult and building a reputation is key. That sais, you really do have to look at all of your job requests and decide if it's feasible/practical or if you're going to be a 'busy fool'. I use that saying oh so often nowadays. I (like so many no doubt) have customers come through the door promising big things and want me to print just a few of this or that. So, you spend hours setting up, tweaking, printing and so on. How often does that customer com back? In my case quite often, but the numbers are so low I doubt I'll ever cover the initial time spent.

I'm getting tougher (with myself) and telling 'trade' customer, yes, I can do 2 mugs but the price is full not trade and any setup is charged by the hour. Buy a box of 36 and we can reduce the price, otherwise nah, not worth it. it's a tough lesson to learn. If you're anything like me, you'll order that single shirt but will get a few just in case they come back for another or, sods law, you mess it up! They never come back for another and I always mess up the last one of anything I have in stock!

As the cast of Grange Hill once said "Just say no!" I'm pretty sure this is what they were referring to ;-)

She won't. If she does, they'll come in for 1 t-shirt as well, you're never going to get rich off that :-)

This.... Dont be a jack of all trades, get really good at one type of work, its very easy to get distracted with the number of different items you can work with. Pick one, preferably with some margin and sell that. When thats making you decent money then look at adding something else.

We turn quite alot of stuff away, its not our type of business/product. We try to do ok with what we specialise in.

    Good luck
