I cannot get over the sheer amount of plastic involved with this, and is any of it reusable ?

Are they re-inventing the wheel? Do we need to replace heat presses? Initial thoughts looked good, we use ovens for mugs anyway but why would we go through all of this time consuming method to print a single slate?

I agree, an awful lot of waste here.

Yes, seems to be quite a bit of waste produced, but if it results in more consistent prints and reduces the amount of scrapped product then the trade-off might be worthwhile.

Only if you use a standard flat heat press instead of an oven.

So is the only thing that can be done in a normal oven is cups with wraps on them I take it?

No. You can use the thermoshrink bags on items other than mugs in an oven, but when you asked if tiles could be done without the bags then the answer was 'only if you do them in a heat press.'

Nothing new here to be honest. We do all of that at the moment with a sublimation oven and foil shrink wraps.
