    3D Modelling and Rendering ..

As some of you may have guessed by now, using 3D modelling and rendering software is a bit of a pastime for me. I'm no great shakes at it, but I enjoy it and have had some good results.

Apart from the obvious advantages of being able to model my own product mockups, it also provides an escape from reality and takes my mind off all things sublimation.

For example, here's a shed modelled in Sketchup and a rendering from inside that same shed with a few props thrown in for good measure ...

The inspiration for this particular type of modelling came from all those TV programmes like Grand Designs, where they show you a beautifully rendered model of the building at the start of the show. I'm more of a shed bloke than your millionaire's mansion type though, but once you learn the basics you can design and render as many wonderful things as you like.

Yes, I should get out more, but reality only exists in your brain anyway!

This one's a bit different in that there are no buildings in the scene ...

Some depth of field (DOF) was added in Photoshop after the image was rendered. It allows for quicker renderings by adding DOF later, as a post-process, and is more controllable.

Great work webtrekker! I'd like to see more My brother is working with these 3D modelling and rendering stuff too so sometimes I watch him working, it's just something amazing. Besides it's a great way to make big money I guess. Currently he's working with a real estate company and designing properties in Montenegro, here's one example if you'd like to see :)
