Magnetic sign cutting.

So I sell a lot of magnetic door signs for cars and vans.
And wondered how you all cut your signs to size?

So for me.

I have an old us cutter machine that I only use for this purpose.
i have 1’000s of blades for it so it’s no issue for me if it blunts them.
Even at full exposure the blade doesn’t cut all the way through the material but you can see the blade is just about to cut through.
I set my machine to cut at super slow speed and the highest pressure it can and that seems to work fine.

I have a curved edges template set so I just load the magnetic material and press cut then fold around the outside to break it away completely.

I have seen people cutting with rulers and corner rounders etc and thought why?

So what’s your way of doing it?

Ah yes the stuff I use is 0.85mil vehicle grade so it’s thick ;)

Just cut by hand so easy and soft. Sharp blade straight through.

This is something i'd like to get into, what material do you guys use, how do you print on to them what machines do you use etc?

Hi. I print & cut magnetic party invitations from printable magnetic sheet on a Silver Bullet cutter.

I don't know how thick your vehicle signs are as I've never done that type of thing, but my cutter whizzes through 690gsm magnetic sheets like a hot knife through butter! One cut, right through, on less than half maximum pressure, and a cutting speed of 300mm/s (just under half the SB's max speed of 800mm/s). Blade wear is minimal. I've cut thousands of these invitations in the last 2 to 3 years and only onto the second blade!

These are my mockups, (all my 'proper' pictures have customers personal details on), but they look identical in real life ...

Wow - Great! So busy mums (and dads) can just slap that kids party invitation on their fridge when they get it, with all the party details handy, so nothing will be forgotten. Brilliant idea!

Yeah, that was the idea, and I've done well with them, but since COVID-19 began no one has been having any parties, so sales have dried up. Plenty of other things to spend my time on at the moment though.

I just use a ruler and knife. I mark out the starting point with a t-square - the cut edge is rarely square.
