    Colour difference Opinions?

    Hi All,

We recently placed an order for some bags from a trade supplier for a customer of ours, we got them and they were great colours were as in the original image.

The customer was happy too and soon after ordered some more. Only this time the colours were muted, dark and had a cyan hue, and the customer is not happy.

I have been told by the supplier that this is normal and differences can occur. And that the colour difference is ever so slight. I disagree.

    Any opinions would help.

The bag on the left is the first order and colours are correct, The bag on the right is from the second order.

    Thanks

Are these polyester or cotton bags which you have printed yourself? What is the printing process?

I agree, there is a blue cast over the second bag which has probably been caused by selecting the incorrect profile when printing. However, would the customer have rejected the second bag if that is the only one they had seen?

You are now in a bit of a bind. Presuming the customer is aware that you are a third party you can ask them what would they like to happen. If they say a full reprint and nothing less then you need to go back to the printer and tell them that is what you want. However you do run the risk of the printer saying they can not reprint and that they will cancel the order etc etc etc.

Obviously you need to keep everyone on side, that's the most important part of a middle man and try and wrangle some sort of deal. Perhaps ask the printer what they would be prepared to offer and see if that will placate the customer.

Lastly, what was the time difference between the first and second print run? If it is as short as you suggest then perhaps work out a deal that is based on number of sales.

As above shows, there are various options available, but you need to work out what each party wants before you can find the solution.

    Good luck :-)
