Thanks Pisquee. Although the other half was willing to make the journey with me, after measuring up there just isn't room to accomodate the swing in the space I have for it.

Do you have any knowledge of Microtec heat presses? I'm really after a clam press with a slide out tray and they have one that fits the bill but not sure about quality.

I hate the space my swing press takes up - but I love it and would not part with it, mine is a Geo Knight I have a clam (no pull out tray) but it is in my "for sale when I get round to it pile"

Pisquee do Pressmech machines usually have branding on them? After messaging the seller with a couple of questions he informs me that it's unbranded but appears identical to a Pressmech, it is also 5 years old.
Would you still advise buying this machine? Thanks in advance.

No, PessMechs are completely unbranded - I've never understand why Dickie doesn't bother branding them. This however does lead to a lot of people not knowing what the press is, and how much it's worth, so they often pop up on Ebay being sold very cheaply.
I've not seen a Chinese copy of a pressmech (have checked Alibaba a few times) so if it looks like a pressmech then it is!

Brilliant, thank you. Should I be concerned that it's 5 years old?

    No.
How does your other half feel about knocking a wall down to fit it in?

The white Pressmechs are generally sold through Nova Chrome, or at least they are currently. Mine has their (Nova Chromes) branding on but I don't think the older ones did.

Microtec make some very good presses for Secabo amongst others. I think some of the Adkins presses are made by them. They also make some cheaper models that are being sold on ebay etc. I have no idea how good they are. The Xpres press you were considering looks very similar to Microtec presses sold by other companies, but I may be wrong.

Thanks so much for your replies, much appreciated. I decided to go with a new press due to having a warranty. I have ordered a Galaxy Hero from Subliblanks as it had all the features I was looking for. The reviews look good but only time will I guess.

Enjoy your new press, it looks like a nice piece of kit. It is a shame you didn't tell us that your £800 budget was flexible because we could have put you onto a new Pressmech for £925 + vat.
