Question Odd shaped item to be heat pressed

    Hi Guys,

We specialise in sportswear / sporting items.
Looking at ways to dye-sub (or other alternatives) onto shinpads.

2 issues here at the moment: we don't have a mug press, and by the looks of them. They are all too small to fully cover the surface of a shinpad?
At the moment, I'm thinking of whacking on an oven glove and rolling it over a flat heat press. Example of one below.

    Any thoughts?

Don't really look like a SUB PRODUCT? - ARE THEY FULLY WHITE SO YOU CAN PRINT WHAT YOU WANT ON THEM?

We don't have an oven. I was considering purchasing a 3D Vacuum, but read various things about reliability.

They are 100% white, and can be subbed. It was something we outsourced, but looking at moving in-house. So currently waiting for our items to be arrive to us.

We tried looking for blanks on these a while back. The inner foam part was a concern as well as the outer. They are easy enough to do with the vacuum press if they hold up to the heat. Just need to create a bit of a jig for them to sit on and not lose shape. I think you yould struggle to get a full print with mug press but possible to fudge a smaller printed area on there. A normal oven with silicone wrap would also be an easy option. All comes down to the blank being suitable really. Can possibly push the temp down further but it would be trial and error to find what might work.

I think you're right though, vacuum press is going to be the solution for this. Providing they work as intended.

If you are wanting to do a bit more volume you can get more commercial units. We have a draw type unit around 800x600 which is a sliding draw style vacuum oven. The membrane is far thicker and works off an external compressor. Depends on your requirement really.

Something to consider Andrew. Other than following various trends (if we do), we tend to deal with totally unique, custom items per customer.

I wonder if thermoshrinkable bags could be a solution here - https://shop.bestsublimation24.eu/se...t=thermoshrink

They are suitable for irregurlarly-shaped items, provided the whole shin pads would withstand the oven temperature.
