I never had any other eco-solvent printer so can't comment. But before I was gon on holiday, I spoked to my Roland engineer who services my printer. he told me as long as the printer is hooked up to main, I have nothing to worry about.

if yes, go for the large and quick machine. If you just starting out and planning to use occasionally but often enough to justify having it than BN20 is the answer. I am quite a busy man this day but bn20 is still plenty enough for me and my customer's needs.
Thanks Paul, that makes sense. I won't be taking over the world anytime soon and only just starting to diversify from sublimation.

I've taken the plunge and purchased a used (but in full working order) BN-20. It's coming with a log of MDP hot flex t-shirt transfer vinyl & mask. I'll post an update with the first test :)

OK so the nozzle check pattern looked very disappointing. I thought that maybe I had bought a lemon, however, a replacement cap top, wipers and a 24 hour head soak with the power off and hey presto, it's a worker. It may just have been left switched off for a while. Test prints look spot on. I'll get some pics up and run some tests this weekend :)

A bit Late to the conversation...

Is it the same ink that is used for the transfers, Stickers, banners etc. Or are they all different?
What medium does everyone use for what they use their BN-20s for and where do you buy it in from?

    Cheers

Sorry for the late reply. I use digital garment film purchased from MDP and the inks are just standard eco solvent. Works well enough for me.

For stickers and vinyls, I use sticker paper from dorotape and poli-tape 100micron for digital vinyls (laminated if being placed somewhere it could be scraped or damaged etc).

Most of my media comes from Dorotape. Great service and they will splice rolls no problem for the BN-20 if you ask them.

I have emailed dorotape three times and not had a reply.
so I spent my £800 elsewhere.

the Roland engineer advised to use ecosolmax not 2 or 3

Weird?? They're always prompt with my requests and willing to send out samples etc whenever I need them.

Do any of you know what they are like printing canvas and glossy photos.
Im really impressed by the quality and the wife wants me to try canvas and photos.

Should I laminate all stickers? as I’m only laminating stickers that are outdoor Use.
