Question 4 Color Epson Sublimation Printer vs 6 Color Epson Sublimation Printer

    Hi guys!

Does epson sublimation printer's color number make difference at printing quality?

Does using 4 colors printer instead of 6 colors printer, present noticeable painting quality?

Example: Epson L1110 vs Epson L1800

    Thanks!

You are not comparing two equal printers.

The biggest difference you will see is between the two printers you are comparing. The L1800 is a very good photo printer, and the L1110 is a cheaper all in one model. So if you are comparing those two printers you will definately see a big difference between 4 and 6 colours.

A better comparison would be between the 4 colour ET14000 and the 6 colour L1800. Both are photo quality printers based on the same model (1500w).

On hard substrates with a smooth surface - mugs, panels etc - you will see some advantage with 6 colours ( depending on the quality of the artwork).

On fabric and t-shirts the difference will be less apparent.

It really depends on what your designs/products/market is - we use 7 colour wide format machines, and after upgrading from equivalent 4 colour models, the difference was definialte notable, and we're reluctant to go back to less colours, our main products being our own brand designer lampshades and cushions, as well as producing for other brands.

    Thanks for the respond.

So, if I turn into an Epson 1500W to sublimation printer, can we say I can get printings that has same quality with Epson L1800?

Both the L1800 and the ET14000 are built around the same internal structure as the old 1500w. The only major difference is that they both have eco tank systems fitted. You are going to get very similar results.

Have to agree with PW66, we have tested L1800 and ET-14000 back to back for print quality. On hard surfaces like ceramic and metal the L1800 had the edge, on fabrics and soft substrates there was little to no difference to the eye.

The additional 2 colours on the L1800 does increase the colour gamut and help to achieve better tonal graduations for highlight or shadow areas in photographs, they also help with skin tone. But it is quite minimal in reality.

Both are excellent, well built printers (based on the 1500W chassis), the ecotank makes them wonderfully easy to use for dye sublimation. They're both great machines in my opinion.

Hi, we can supply the ICC for you, if you already have inks. We have ICC for all models we support here available to purchase. They are ICC packages for use with the particular printer model, Inktec Sublinova inks and our sublimation papers - https://www.inkexperts.co.uk/product...for-epson/Both L805 and L1800 perform almost identically, they share the same printing head and internal workings so print for print they are very very similar.Alex
