That's a sensible way to go. You never know until you've actually tried something yourself.

Etsy- when they launched the free USA shipping thing late last year...

    We upped our prices
Included worldwide shipping for all products (which predominately is covered by not needing to give HMRC their 20% VAT for orders outside Europe)
Changed all our prices to be naively in USD

    Our sales tripled

If you are upping prices to absorb free shipping to the USA, aren't you overpricing your products for the UK market?

Unique high priced products you could get away with it. But competitive lower priced products such as cards, mugs, totes you would stand out as being expensive locally?

We predominantly do "unique high priced products" that are seen as high end/designer, so we aren't aiming for low priced/competitive Our wallpapers are £120 a roll, and fabrics £100-120 a metre.
Last year at Spring Fair 2019, so many buyers were saying we were reasonable, cheap, even too cheap, that we decided that was enough keeping our prices low, we have since put our prices up again (another 10%) at Spring Fair 2020 and will do again for SF 2021.
Because of the VAT advantage, we are actually better off on sales outside of Europe for most products with the shipping contracts we have.

Keep an eye on the competition and your own monthly sales. It doesn't take long for copycats to undercut you. I've seen that with a few of my product ranges and those former best sellers are now looking high priced in comparison.
