they are useful, but in many cases you can use scrap card etc.
if pressing back of a polo and don't want buttons showing through, - arms, kids tops, ones with 'delicate print on other side etc

Thin Silicone heat resistant rubber sheet is another option to use

I have tried them but do not really like them. Can't get enough pressure on some materials.
Now I use Nomex instead. Its expensive but will last a LONG time... Far longer than a printing pillow.
