The grants are based on businesses renting commercial premises.
If your workshop is subject to any form of small business rate relief ( up to 15K rateable value) then the grant is £10k.
Some premises with higher rateable values get £25K, depending on business type.

Isn't the money restricted to people in receipt of small business rates relief? Your only allowed one premises to qualify for rate relief.

Two shops under two separate companies - one a Ltd (our main business) the other a CIC (community arts)
But there are plenty of businesses that set up multiple shops all doing the same thing with each a separate company to get around the rates issue

Do you guys not have accountants? Surely its their job to do the applications for you, after all we pay them enough to do our accounts.
Mine is doing my application for me and I didn't have to ask.

we have an in house accounts guy who would normally do this kind of stuff, but he's furloughed. Our main Chartered accountants for the big stuff is my dad - but he's busy dealing with his big clients, so doing this on our own. The council forms are easy though - mainly just asking for confirmation of company details, and bank details for the payments.

Thank god you have them set up in separate names.
Some neighbours of mine are squealing because they have two premises (different names on the bill) but only one set of books and one bank account.....

Even without the rates thing - having two shops with their own split accounts (even if not set up as different companies) would be advisable to know if both shops are profitable, how they're performing etc

We do have a third company, another Ltd, essentially dormant, so if/when we go go the next shop, it will be under that company
