I have a few of these presses - mine are set to 125 idle, 167 temp for 170 seconds with a light to medium pressure. I use one piece of tape that I thread through the handle, no need for any more as the blanket applies pressure, so ink doesn't migrate from top/bottom of paper.

I don't normally print top to bottom, but the ones I have done have came out fine - without preheating the mug.

    Cheers John

Thanks, which paper do you use? I am trying it with Ink Experts Versa (which has always been fine with my other press).

I managed to get the bottoms working now with 140 idle, 195 temp, 175 seconds.

After they finish I put the bottom in and close the press (so the top is out of the end) and leave it in for another 10 seconds.

They have been coming out OK that way.

I've been setting mine to a constant 180c and pressing for 180 - 210 seconds, similar to what I done with my Adkins mug press. For a full wrap, I'll add an extra minute.

too tight is not good. it should be just tight enough so mug is not moving. too tight can give blurred effect on your artwork.
add 30 seconds and see what is going to happen.

I'm using a Ricoh printer with Sublijet-R inks (sawgrass) - I'm printing onto Xpres XP4072A papers and only use Xpres XP5013 mugs which IMO, cannot be beat on quality.
Great that you're getting a decent image now - sublimation is rarely straight forward and temp/times that work for some, don't for others. lol

I am still not sure if I am doing it right, for full wrap prints they are taking around 9 minutes to get full coverage.

First 3 as normal, turn it round for another 3 and then leaving it half out to heat the bottom for the last 3.

Looking on youTube I have seen people just do it for 180 seconds with full wraps and they print perfectly.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnwPbtMKnck

If I do that it is completely faded towards the bottom? So I have to press it again with just the bottom half in so the base is done.

As you can imagine, productivity is taking a hit with having to do everything 2 or 3 times depending on the design :(

    An example is this design.

I am currently putting it in for 180 with the base facing outwards, then I have to put it in again with half the mug in with the base facing inwards else the text at the bottom really fades.

Would it be normal to expect to be able to press that in 180 seconds?

Yes, there is no reason to do anything apart from put in press and press the timer which is set to 167 temp for 170 seconds - comes out perfect every time. Mugs and paper from Xpres, inks are genuine Sawgrass through a Ricoh. Sounds like your press/blanket is knackered, or set to Fahrenheit instead of Celsius.

It did go to F randomly the other day but I am pretty sure it's in C as it's hotter than 180F, it has been like it since I bought it brand new so I have been pressing them twice to do top and bottom.

I posted a full mug print image somewhere? I did it in my mdp press 180oc for 180 seconds from room temp and it’s fine
I never turn or put a mug in a press more than once.
if it’s not doing it first time then your settings are wrong somewhere.
