Hermes claiming for lost (stolen) parcels

Well I don’t normally claim for missing or damaged items as they aren’t covered, but I sold my old nextbase 612gw dash cam for £120 on eBay and foolishly posted by Hermes.
Low and behold it’s gone missing.

I have raised a claim through the disaster that is packlink who use Hermes but it looks as though it’s only covered to £20 :(

Then the wife sold a load of toys new in boxes and out of 6 packages 4 are just marked as collected but there’s no way to talk to Hermes.
I used the live chat holly who tells me it’s not moved since 6th Oct and to contact the sender!
even though it asked me if I was the sender or receiver and I chose sender.

I can’t get any further to an agent or any response from email or phone.
so I have missing parcels I can’t claim for which I have paid for the extra insurance on.

I feel your pain, but you'll get f@ck all from Hermes.

I worked for them as a self-employed courier for over 11 years and even I wouldn't know how to get compensation from them.

They (management, not couriers) are the scum of the Earth IMHO!

    My driver said the same.
But they have been bought out by a big American investor and fingers crossed things might change but I doubt it.

Have you tried doing it through these guys on twitter ? https://twitter.com/wheresmypackage?lang=en

We have found emailing the CEO's of companies gets you further than most other methods of communications, BUT you only get one shot at it, so make sure every detail you have is there, before you hit send.

Did you ever get a resolution on this ? I am now using https://www.secursus.com/ and not using Hermes insurance, just following the guidelines on secursus site.

No I switched to parcel2go as mugs are uninsurable.
On there I can send without the insurance for less and if or when they arrive damaged I can enter the details on the website live chat claim and they refund postage instantly.

Oh that is good, it cost me £1.15 the other day to add £90 of insurance to a parcel, so its worth bearing in mind if you ship more than a mug at a time. I've not used parcel2go before, do you drop them off at a shop ?

Those "inpost lockers" rates are excellent, alas the closest one is quite a way from me. Certainly worth keeping an eye on though.

No my local Hermes guy is great I book one collection and he adds the lot for me.
When I send a parcel to Portugal next to my folks I’m going to try that insurance ;)

Our nearest is around 8miles away so no good for us out here in the sticks in Devon.
