By not throwing them into the nearest river

I started with the "smash-proof" boxes. Had breakages.
Switched to poly inside a cardboard box from Custompac = not one single breakage.
Most of my mugs go to USA as well, and these poly/ box combos also take 15oz mugs (about 75% of my sales).

    I couldn't find any that weren't astronomical.

Although a dropship fulfiller sends them via USPS for about £6 so I end up just doing it through them.

I'm not too sure how to send that cheap.

    I use Transglobal Express.
It's about a fiver for t shirts and £6.75 for mugs.
You pay a £7 pick up charge per big box full of smaller boxes, so I stick 50p on the shipping for each order to cover that.
Each box is tracked and it's relatively fast. About 5 days on average.
I usually put 50 orders in each big box.

Written from memory so got some bits wrong. See post two below for updated.

    That's interesting,
I charge £17.55 tracked to the US for 1 mug and £10.50 per additional mug, I originally did it because I wasn't sure about shipping mugs that far and decided "What the hell, offer it and see just, charge a lot"......and they ordered! I use RM so it's a nice bonus. However Transglobal would be more of a bonus!

You can include 25 orders in a box which costs £6.95 to pick up, or you can keep the orders separate for a £9.95 pick up.

So, a mug is £6.76 to send, then if you divide £6.95 by 25 and add it to the £6.76, you get £7.04.
That's cheap to USA. I charge £8.70 postage per mug.

A t-shirt posted as a large letter costs £5.06 currently.
