    Are the suppliers stuffed?

A Sunday morning ponder with a cup of coffee.
It appears that stock hasn't come through this year as the suppliers had hoped, they ordered, expected it and it's not here.
So if they were planning on it coming in and going out, then the next delivery in and out etc there could be a problem looming. If it all turns up in the new year when our demand has dropped back to normal, where are they going to put it all? You can't just squeeze the stock in by giving it a push.

On the other hand it may be that they have had all their deliveries and no problem, they are just sitting with an empty warehouse waiting for the new year stock. As planned.

    More coffee needed.

Most suppliers would have purchased way ahead of time.
the stuff stuck in customs off of the boats would have been ordered months ago and they will have space to keep them anyway.

Others will probably just have extra stock, they know it will sell maybe not straightaway though. you will probably see the lesser known companies dropping prices and eBay scumbags selling mugs delivered for £2

I can’t see how this will cause any issues for suppliers as mugs sell all year round.

The warehouses have been open, but many of the factories have been shut (at least part of the time). Best sellers are selling through and replacements are queueing for production or backlogued elsewhere in the supply chain.

Situations quite bad for garment printers. There is plenty of stock, but if one size is out of stock then the whole lot might as well be. BTC Activewear might as well close their doors. Every time I have tried to place an order with them since March something has been out of stock and I have placed the order elsewhere. Some weeks I have been using three suppliers just to fulfill an order, not getting a carriage paid with any of them.

Everyone, manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers alike are caught 'Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea', 'Between a Rock and a Hard Place', or, to make it more current, 'Between Brexit and Covid!'

These are bad times for all of us in the UK at the moment. Let's hope next year is better.

I had visions of loads of lorries turning up at the same time and that "Where do we put it all" problem for the wholesale side.

'Where do we put it?' is basically what every port around the world is going through. The price of second hand PS4s are higher than their most recent retail price. I was on the lookout for one, nevermind a PS5, so will just have to wait.
