    Sefa heat presses

Has anyone any experience of Sefa heat presses?

Not a brand I'm familiar with and was wondering how they stand up against Adkins.

I'm considering this from Xpres https://www.xpres.co.uk/sefa-clam-pr...pen-heat-press to replace my Adkins Beta Max (only changing as need clam and would like auto open).

Thanks in advance and merry Christmas to all on the forum.

Sefa look mighty impresive, I like the lookof the fully auto twin plate.
Problem is that magnetic auto open is not always good for sublimation. The press can open with a jolt that causes the transfer to shift, leaving a ghost mark. The sefa opening mechanism looks less harsh than some I have seen.
Can you try before you buy?

I have an auto open press it does jerk when it opens.
It’s not normally a problem except when I make a batch of coasters up in the jig.

Heat tape tends to release from the jig when hot so when it pops open the sheet lifts and causes ghosting.
The only way around this for me is to hold down the handle when the timer goes off and lift it away slowly.

Thank you for the replies, both very useful and answered the 'opening with a jolt' concern I had.

Do you find it a problem when printing garments? I wouldn't want to slow the process down by using tape for garments.

We have the Sefa auto-open and it really is a fantastic machine, we've never had any problems with it. If you do get one, just a note it arrives in a very very heavy crate that will require at least two people to lift to its destination.

Great machine and worth the money though.
