    Ghosting with Oven

    Hi everybody,
i just bought a big Schulze Gigant oven for my mugs . I properly adjusted heat and time , and the result is good for the colours .
    I just have a ghosting problem .
When i take the mugs out of the oven i take off the silicone wrap and the paper and the image is doubled like sliding.
Anyone using mugs , oven and wraps to give me some advice ?
    Regards.

PS : sorry for my english , in in France.

Is the silicone wrap tight onto the mug? What time and temps are you using? I don't know this oven. If you leave the wrap on until cool does it still ghost?

    As Justin says.

But for info, ghosting occurs when the paper
moves AND the substrate (the mug) is still hot enough to accept the image.

To eliminate this you need to first make sure your paper is tight against the mug and the silicon wrap is tight.

To check that your paper isn’t moving, put a wrapped mug in the oven and print. When the time is up carefully remove the mug and rip it warm water. Once cooked remove the wrap and look at your result.

If that is all good then it will be a temperature issue. Your oven is possibly too hot. Getting the sweet spot is always the goal and takes lots of tweaking. Knock the temp down 5 degrees and give it a go. Perhaps increase the time by a couple of minutes if you need to.

We had this issue at work once... Every single one ghosted.
    We used Conveyor oven.
We changed the box of mugs and then every single one was perfect. I thought to my self, NO WAY!
Stick one mug from old batch. same thing! ghosting. New mug in. No problems!

On a side note, what type of conveyor oven were you using?

I've had this recently with some MDP mugs. Holding a ruler against the side of the mug reveals a slight bulge so the paper cannot fit properly.

This is good to know Paul as I would never think it would be the coating.

I had some of the cheap mugs from BMS about 6 years back. Those ghosted as well, and in one direction, as though the paper had shifted one way. Very odd. I had forgotten all about it until Paul's post.
