    Print and cut text help.

I’m useless with illustrator so I need help.

I want to create some text in different colours and cut it out for a T-shirt.

when I select the text to create the cut line like I do with images the centre of the letters becomes filled leaving a white area.
How can I create a cut line for 3 lines of text but have them cut out the centre of the D, O, P and B for example instead of it becoming a solid image?

By sheer coincidence this has come up on YouTube
    https://youtu.be/GVFJ-bk--4w

    Is google watching me?
Now I feel thick it was as simple as creating a 0.25 stroke in magenta without combining the text.

Probably late now but if i understand you right this is how i do it....

creat your text to size you want - id duplicate it now in case need to make changes as going forward wont be re editable.
go to object - expand - expand both fill and stroke.

    ungroup
then use pathfinder to divide it all up into sections. Delete the centres of any letters needed.

my cut software whilst will open/ import ai files, any text mot expanded it wont pick up as wont cut straight from the text/ font format.

thats how i deal with fonts/ lettering. Gives you a scaleable version then as converts to vectors!
