    Hi All

I’m not really following this thread in too much detail but after reading Paul’s comments it is worth pointing out that consumer law and trading standards for “general public” versus business customers is very different.

While it certainly appears that Epson have not acted in the best way I can not imagine them breaking any consumer or trading law.

It is more likely that “clever” marketing has sold these machines and they know there will ultimately be no comeback.

I could be very wrong on the above (it wouldn’t be the first time ) but I suspect Epson will have this all locked down to protect themselves.

if you have been told by advisor that "you used the machine to much" they need to point out how did they notified you about fair usage and that you knew how much you can use it. If not. money are going back to your pocket or free fix. Simple as that.

Although the Consumer Rights Act doesn't apply to B2B transactions, section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act (the bit that covers credit card purchases) classes sole traders and unincorporated partnerships as consumers. If you paid for part of the purchase on your card then you might be covered by the CCA.

I have the original 2019 Epson press release and brochures on my old laptop. Neither mention any limits to use, and state that the F500 is designed for business use.
While it is obvious that the F500 isn't a full scale production machine - designed to be used all day every day, non stop - the price dictates that it should be capable for significantly more use than Epson are claiming.
Even the desktop WF7610 has a duty cycle of 20,000 sheets per month - 240,000 sheets on a 12 month warranty. For them to suggest that a printer costing 10 times as much has a lower duty cycle is cobblers.

To give an update on our printer.

I was buying from Colourbyte and needed to spend an extra 20 quid to get free delivery so I thought I'd try a roll of the S-Race Vivid 120.

It's the only paper we've used that didn't leave any kind of ink trail. It comes in a 55m roll with a 2" core so it fits no problem. It's probably the max roll length the printer can take.

We've tried older designs or photos with mostly dark areas that we always had problems with and it's printing it perfectly. Designs that we would need to brighten or modify before printing are a thing of the past.

To also give an update, I'm now on my second end of life message after another 6 months of use. This time they are only replacing one part, so the next message won't be far around the corner (need to get them to read the counters when they arrive)

I have also been advised for the second time that the SC-F500 is not a production printer, so I have started a new thread for recommendations on a higher volume alternative.

Mine is just about year and half old and starts to play. I have to do a deep cleaning cycle every other day to print a page. I seem to have an issue with printer head I think. The lines on nozzle check patterns are wonky as hell on the blue and yellow when I don't use it for few days. Don't have to say how flipping expensive that is as one cleaning cycle fills 40% of maintenance tank and drinks loads of ink!

Typical response "We've sold thousands and never had this issue" ? I get that a lot. Any decent supplier will back you up and get you up and running....if that's possible with this printer. I think this thread tells you all you need to know.
