I use it do the following...
First I check on brandsoftheworld.com this is more of a global site so is unlikely to have UK centric logos though
The other thing I do is search for a PDF. So in the example of Check A Trade the second hit was a catalogue. Open the first page in illustrator/coreldraw and you will be able to extract the logo as required.
Needless to say that the above means you need to be covered for copyright use. I know some on here think it’s OK to ignore it but I personally don’t :-) As long as who you are doing artwork & printing for is actually a member of check a trade then you are most likely good to go

If you have been commissioned by checkatrade to print mugs then they should supply the logo. If they allow members to use their logo then again they will supply logo. If you are printing without copyright-use permission then this is against the law.
Yes the 2 companies that have asked us to do work are both registered with checkatrade. I could ask the customer to ask checkatrade or i could ask checkatrade myself, but was just trying to save time as one company are dropping the vehicles tomorrow morning to be done friday and saturday.

1 minute search on Google:

Google checkatrade.com - brand guidlines to get the colours and layout specs they expect you to use.
You can't just download and use registered trademarks from a dodgy free website! There are strict legal and artistic requirements. Spend a bit longer than one minute if you want to avoid having to sell your home to pay for your legal fees. Try explaining that to your other half.

Although organisations like check-a-trade, Gas Safe etc like and require their members t use their logos they are very particular about font, colour, layout etc.
We all have the skills to trace or redraw something, but it is rarely 100% correct.
It is always best to get genuine artwork or a link from the customer the first time you use a trade logo. Once you have it on file it is safe enough to use for subsequent customers - provided you do some basic checks to see if they are members of the relevant association.
I've spoken to the companies who want the work and they know nothing, so I've emailed checkatrade and the others direct and asked, but don't know how long till they reply. One job is complete except trade logos. and the other I'm off out to do monday. So doubt either will get trade logos just yet.
