    CE marks - beware.

In case anyone was unaware, CE marks are due to be replaced by the new UKCA mark. CE marks will cease to be valid, and items must display the new mark.
This was due to happen by 31st Dec 2021, but has now been put back 12 months until 31st Dec 2022.

To members of this forum it mainly applies to PPE/Hivis stocks, but some other sublimatable items may also be included.
Make sure that any CE marked retail stock is cleared by the end of next year, and be careful of any clearance deals from suppliers. You can bet your life that Trading Standards Officers will be on the lookout for wrongly marked goods in 2023.

Crazy. Every single CE marked product has to be retested and relabled. Massive undertaking, which is probably why there is a twelve month extension.

It will make it difficult importing some stock stock and most equipment from Europe.

We have a 'weekend' business selling sunglasses on shows and outdoor events. Everything has to be CE marked and due to lockdowns we haven't traded since end of 2019 season. We had faced writing off nearly 3000 pairs of sunglasses at the end of the year, but at least we have another year to clear the stock.

You will find that many European standards were lower than the British Standards we were told to replace. Goods used to display the BSI Kitemark before they were replaced by CE. CE is worthless since China stamp their goods 'China Export'.
