Plastic business cards for sublimation ...

Hi. Just a shot in the dark here, but does anyone know a supplier of credit card sized blank plastic cards suitable for sublimation? The ones I've found are all out of stock.

My daughter has recently set up a bricks and mortar Pick & Mix sweet shop and wants to introduce gift cards. I thought these sublimatable cards would be ideal.

BTW, I know aluminium cards are available but they're not really what I was after, however, they may be the only option if everyone is out of stock of the plastic ones. Also, some of the plastic ones I've seen are just for dedicated card printers and apparently melt in seconds if heat pressed for sublimation!

    Thanks.

    No offence intended but why?
You can buy 500 printed card ones for a 10th of the price online.

I would also be worried about the impact on the environment using plastic business card over card.

granted they might look nice but the time and effort to print and press 100 cards can’t be worth it surely?

I need them to e printed with a unique barcode, different to each card, for balance tracking purposes when customers use them. Also, I don't want 500 cards of the same design, I want different designs for each monetary value and this makes pre-printed cards a lot more expensive.

As for the environmental impact, I get what you are saying, but plastic cards have a lot more durability than normal cards. These cards may be used a long time after they have been gifted and, to be honest, look a lot more professional and this may be the reason many high-end shops use plastic over card.

Of course, If I can't get hold of a supply of them then I will have to consider other options. Plus ... I like dyesubbing! (Crazy, I know!).

    Hi,

I've used the PVC cards below for sublimation, several hundreds
Printed both sides, they do bend and need to be weighted down after subbing, (and smell terrible)

I've probably got a few left over if you want some samples to try out, just let me know

    Amazon
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hi. That's very kind of you, and I saw these on Amazon but was put off by the reviews.

I've since ordered some double-sided aluminium blanks and will see how those go. Arriving tomorrow. They say they are thin and flexible so here's hoping! They're only intended to be used as gift cards after all

Just a quick update for anyone following this thread ...

I received the double-sided aluminium blanks from Amazon yesterday and I'm very impressed with them.

They are very flexible, like plastic, but even more so because you can bend them back on themselves then straighten them out again! Sublimate perfectly at 190°C for 40 secs and you can print both sides at once.

Being gift cards, the back of all of my cards have a unique barcode printed and they scan very well with my handheld barcode reader as well as my mobile phone.
