Are you talking about small format/desktop printers?
HP printers (and Canon) have the wrong type of printheads to be used for sublimation. They use 'Thermal' printheads that don't work well with sublimation ink. Although HP make some very large wide formt sub printers they have developed a special ink for those printers - I wouldn't like to say if that ink would be usable in a desktop.

You need a printer that uses 'micro piezo' printheads such as Epson.

The HP Stitch wide format printers work well, so will be interesting to see if the R&D/Tech put into them ever filters down into smaller printers.
E2A, although predominantly they are their Latex printers reworked into Sublimation printers, so it may never happen
