    Finally retired

Finally found a buyer who will carry my business forwards. He is a regular customer of mine with a clothing business who wants to expand his business and bring some of the work in house. We did the exchange a few weeks ago and since then I have been working alongside them to introduce my existing customers and to show them how everything works.
Now I am teaching the new firm how to use the embroidery machines, digitising, printing, plotting and a myriad of other things. Im amazed at what I have learnt over the years.

Thanks to everyone on this forum for your invaluable help over the years.

    John

Congratulations John and I wish you a long and happy retirement. I have always enjoyed your input to the forum and hope that you continue to "pop in" every now and then, even if its just to point out you are on your sixth margarita sitting by the pool ;-)

An old thread but I have to say, as someone who has retired and gone back to work.

Retirement is not what its cracked up to be. Less disposable income, boredom etc etc.

THe only way to stay young and stay alive is to keep working.

Having a purpose will keep you going.

I hope Earl is still having fun being retired but it wasn't for me.
    regards
    Tony

The first six months as part of the sale agreement I helped the buyer set up my old business and showed them how it all worked. Then I took a couple of holidays. One to bury my mum who died during covid and I couldnt get over to the UK to bury her (remember Boris and his parties?) And then we took a two month holiday in the south of Spain. That really settled me down into retirement. That was in 2022, the following year we had a couple of long holidays and keep ourselves busy at home and seeing friends. This year we are doing the same, in fact three holidays this year. My wife also retired at the same time. We live in a very interesting city in Germany and keep ourselves busy. Lots of friends and places to go. Every now and again I will pop down to see my old business and have a coffee, its an hour away so makes a good day out. As they are a bigger firm than I was they have grown the business even further.
Being retired was a bit worrying to start with but now after two years Im enjoying every minute.
