Card printing nightmare

Afternoon folks...

Wondering if anyone has a decent printer reccomendation for primarily printing cards. I use a mixture of plain 200gsm card and 240gsm pre-creased cards. Just trying to get my logo on the back etc.
I've just sacked off my really ancient HP ENVY which coped fine with the 200gm, but not the 240gsm.

I bought the Epson 4800 and it won't even take the 200gsm without the rollers spinning then coming up with a paper jam warning, even tho the card is just partially in the rollers and lifts out easily. I really wanted to go the Eco tank route and had high hopes but I'm just having a mare with it all.
I'd read about setting the paper type to envelopes which took a couple of sheets thru, thought i'd cracked it but now it wont take them at all.

I can't even look at the printer now, its winding me up

I think the Epson needs to go... loosly looking at the Canon Pixma ix6850 but worried i'll have the same issue and start a personal collection of printers

I have read a lot of threads but looking at the post dates, there are probably newer inventions now

I had a Canon ix6850 and it easily coped with 300gsm card (including pre-creased card), and also printable magnetic sheet. Great printer, requiring the minimum of maintenance.

You'll not be disappointed with it.

All I will say, though, is that I ran mine on compatible ink from City Ink Express using their refillable cartridges. Hell of a lot cheaper, and printed absolutely fine, but I suppose it depends on the use you have for the printer. (Other ink suppliers are, of course, available, but I've no experience with their products).

Something you might find useful, but which I've never had to use myself, is the ability to alter a Custom Setting to 'Prevent Paper Abrasion.' This, I believe, raises the gap between the print head and the paper ever so slightly to avoid scuff marks, mainly on thicker media. Here's how to do this -

To prevent paper abrasion on your Canon iX6850, enable the "Prevent paper abrasion" function within the printer driver's Custom Settings, which increases the space between the print head and paper.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

1. Accessing the Printer Driver Setup:

Open the printer driver setup window from your computer.
Make sure the printer is turned on.

2. Locating Custom Settings:

In the printer driver, navigate to the "Maintenance" tab.
Click on "Custom Settings".

3. Enabling "Prevent Paper Abrasion":

In the Custom Settings dialog box, locate the "Prevent paper abrasion" option.
Check the box to enable this function.
Click "Apply" or "OK" to save the settings.

Important Notes:

Print Quality:
Enabling "Prevent paper abrasion" might slightly reduce print quality, especially with high-intensity images. If print quality is a concern, you may need to select "High" in the Print Quality section of the printer driver.

Ink Intensity:
If you are printing images with high intensity on plain paper, the paper may absorb too much ink and become wavy, causing paper abrasion. Reduce the intensity setting in the printer driver and try printing again.

Mac OS X:
In Mac OS X, access the Canon IJ Printer Utility from the Library>Printers>Canon>BJPrinter>Utilities folder, or through Print & Fax settings.

Troubleshooting:
If you continue to experience paper smudging or scratching, ensure that the paper feed rollers are clean and that you are not printing beyond the recommended printing area.

You are an absolute star! I have just changed the setting to prevent paper abrasion as I have seen a couple of prints had slights marks but tweaking paper types slightly helped.
I have upped the quality to high too, I'm not printing photographs but printing my drawings onto seeded card so that will be perfect. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain that, i'd never have found it. I'm a MAC user at heart so the windows laptop is frying my brain at the moment :D
