I was just thinking the same thing:

    One man and his press:

    1 mug = 180 secs cooking time

    180 seconds = 3 mins

    5,000 x 3 = 15,000 mins.

    15,000 divided by 60 = 250 hours

    250 hours = 10 days + 10 hours

And that's not taking into account any time to prepare, print, change mugs, drink, eat .................... and sleep!

Of course, with a couple of mug presses this could be halved but it does seem a daunting task!

Saying that though, if you could make 50p profit from each mug and do them over a couple of weeks then it's a two and a half grand profit in total ................... worth considering when you see the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

For that quantity I would have thought screen printing would be a lot cheaper. Can't see that you would be competitive doing sublimation unless they are all unique.

Depending on the turn around time, if you have time on your hands then we could probably beat a screen printed price but they wouldn't be printed in this country and delivery would be weeks as they would be shipped from across the globe fully printed. Get your figures sorted first and then if you get the business you can shop around for companies to print these for you and you take the margin.

lol... yeah ...well i certainly know its a mission and i would have 3 maybe 4 mug presses for the task and 4 family members to form a production line....i like a challenge :). Also completing an order like this could lead to further orders of different types. Ive been told they want a large number of tees depending on how i perform with this potential order.

I would have thought there be a full colour requirement otherwise you are right, screenprinted mugs are going to be 50p cheaper on a quote.

    Steelite

I contacted steelite in Stoke in the early stages. They have a minimum order but it worked out at 50p a mug. Don't know if this helps?
