i know its been asked many times but...

Hi i have read through a number of posts relating to vinyl cutters and theres so much choice i need help narrowing things down, so here goes..

my budget is between 200-250 English pounds, im looking for something relatively quiet as i live in a flat and dont want to upset my neighbours, i need something that can contour cut as i would like to do subliflock transfers for band tshirts etc (until i can afford a pigment ink printer for transfers) and anything bigger than a4 would be great as I have a good connection to the local music scene due to having been in a number of bands over the years and banners etc might be a good earner from time to time.

I am looking at the silhouette cameo but have also been looking at liyu but they dont seem very quiet or am i wrong,

    please help

    Tony

Well my Liyu is definitely not quiet but I have not heard a cameo cutter so cannot comment how quiet or noisy they are in comparison. I have stood next to a larger Graphtec model and it appeared fairly quiet. But the Liyu sound level is probably no louder than some of the printers I have owned churning out a print. In fact at least you know when it has finished cutting lol. But given your budget if you do not need the extra wide cuting area then the Cameo is probably the better machine to buy.

Well my SAGA cutter is a lot quieter than my Liyu but uses a servo motor and that might be the main difference.

http://www.safetechltd.co.uk - give them a ring and see if you can haggle a good price - my wife did lol

I do not think the cutters are noisy in the sense of loud, just a bit 'whizz/whizz/chatter/chatter'. I doubt any are as loud as a spining washing machine or even a blender. I find the cutting noise quite comforting as at least I know it is doing something lol
