Well I've just set up my Brother (MFC-J5910DW) and must have a faulty one as within 30 seconds of a head clean the head is blocked. Been on it all day and have got to admit defeat. Gone through around 100 sheets of paper (last 95 were normal paper). Never put the original carts in but got large refillable ones will have put the originals in when I take it back to PC World.
Just my flippin luck but still not going down the Ricoh route, cannot justify the cost for which is only really a standard inkjet/Gel printer.

Before you go down the route of tearing your hair out I would suggest that you pull the cartridges out and repush them back in - when you get to where you think they are in then push a bit harder and you should hear them lock in place. I had a similar issue as until they seat fully the printer will do everything other than print!

Also remove the bungs from the cartridge top to let the ink flow once seated.

Yea, already tried that several times and they are now clicking firmly in place, its strange, a couple of head cleans and its fine but as soon as you print (even within seconds) the heads are blocked again. Just think I got a Friday afternoon one.

I'm having similar problems with mine. I exchanged the printer today in maplin and got a brand new one. The first test print came out with about 20% of what should have been on the page actually on the page. I am pulling my hair out all day. I cant believe exchanging the printer didn't fix this. I have tried all the things with the cartridges too but still no joy. Any other tips much appreciated.

Both OK now, I had the same problem as Kaskade. Seems that the large refillable carts cause to much negative vacuum with the bungs in.
Still a few hundred quid up on buying a supported printer lol

Well im up for a challenge and gonna get my brother printer ordered as soon as possible. It seems that most problems are pilot error on the cartridges which have been sorted by the looks of things.

Martin i do understand what you are saying but it would have been interesting to see if brother printers did become supported how many people would choose brother over ricoh and epson. MAYBE one day.

Thank you all for your input into this. As usual you get honest reliable advise from people that have alot of experience in this forum.

    NICE ONE PEOPLE.
