Unhappy Paper sticking to slates now

    Hi

I recently did a couple of slates and was pleased with the results. I followed Paul's video to the letter and everything was fine. Did a couple more today, again following Paul's method, and the paper was sticking really badly. Also, the colours weren't as vibrant. One looks like it could have done with a couple more minutes in the press.

As I haven't varied the method I'm at a loss to know how to correct the errors. On one, about 40% of the paper stuck.

    Any ideas anyone please.

    Regards

    Harlequeen

    Hi Paul

I've used trupix paper same as before and the same rock slates that you used in the video. I'm not sure if I got them from the same place, but it would habe been either coralgraph or bms.
Can't work it out. I will try to upload photo to show the difference.

I presume you pre warmed your slates?

I use Xpres economy paper (from BMS) for my slates (also from BMS). I press at 190degrees for 10 minutes but I don't pre-heat the slate. I press with a sheet of silicon (a baking sheet from tesco!) on top of the slate.

I started to get issues with TruPix paper, despite successes on the past. It works for me!

I use the same paper. I preheat the slate for a minute or so and then cook for 9 minutes 190c/200c.

This may sound stupid, but double check that you are printing on the correct side of the paper

(please don't take offense, only trying to help )

Thanks for all the ideas, I won't take offence at any suggestions. I did check that I hadn't printed on the wrong side of the paper as it did look washed out. I'm going to try to lower the temperature and increase the printing time to see if that changes things.

It's also possible that I'm being a little too picky as when I showed them to my friends who I was printing them for, they were both over the moon with them. Maybe my first attempt was too successful !

    thanks again

    Paula
