    The Rock Slate Printing Problems!

Like many of you I sub rock slates and have been reading with interest about the problems you’ve had with poor quality transfers to the slates and paper sticking.

I’ve also had these problems but what I seem to have found is it may possibly be due to using a Ricoh printer?

I’ll try to explain what I mean with my findings and see from the people who use a Ricoh setup if it makes sense?

My Ricoh setup is a e3300N using original Sawgrass carts and Trupix Classic paper and I have never had a slate come out without paper sticking no matter what time or pressure I used.

Yet my Epson A3 printer setup’s (Photo R1800 & Photo 1500W) using licenced Sawgrass wide format inks in refillable carts not a CISS Systemwith Trupix Classic paper have all come out without the paper sticking issue and great looking image transfers.

So the point of this post is how many of you that had or have these problems are using a Ricoh setup? As I really believe the issue is with the Sawgrass ink for the Ricoh causing the issue which maybe down to the ink being a gel and not more like a fluid liquid ink?

I’lltake a photo of a slate I made last week of my nephew and upload it tomorrow toshow you how they turn out with the Epson’s setup.

Sorry Paul you have misunderstood what I was saying!

I don't have a problem anymore doing rock slates as I use my Epson setup's now instead of the Ricoh's.

This post was to help people using Ricoh setup's that have problems as I believe the problem is with the Ricoh ink!

The way I see it is the Ricoh setup's have a place for most sublimation items but are not the ideal setup for rock slates as people keep blaming the slates not the setup?

Got to agree here, we're using InkTec Sublinova inks and InkTec's transfer paper, and have never had a slate stick - didn't have them stick with Coldenhove papers either.

pisquee! you and I both use InkTec Sublinova inks in the wide format printers and don't have the paper sticking problem which seems to go and show that the problem may well be with the gel ink for Ricoh setups

Ricoh and xpres paper - only ever had one slate stick problem - I put this down to a badly coated slate as the coating looked uneven in places and that was where the paper stuck.
