Mug Sublimation Problem - Maroons/ browns coming our black, reds coming out orange

Hi, new to this sublimation game, so thought id try on here for some advice.

Im trying to sublimate a mug with maroon/brown, but its coming out black.

Im on an aRtech Graphics mug press, a week old (my old one was second hand and developed hot and cold spots, so got gifted a new one).

Ive used the factory settings of 180C for 180 seconds. Tried 170C for 140 seconds (recommended by a long time professional in sublimation), tried 200 for 60 seconds, even tried 110 for 245 seconds.

Ive tightened the nut to add more pressure, less pressure, really light pressure. Still the same result.

Im printing with a Ricoh SG3110DN... however, I replaced 2 cartridges (M and Y) with 2 cartridges from eBay, the C and K are still the Sawgrass Sublijet-R but theyre due to run out soon.

Ive also done a polyster shirt to see if it is the ink. I used a cut from the same print as I did for the mugs and that turned out perfect.

    Can anyone solve this problem?

    Cheers
    Matt

What are the cartridges from Ebay? Were they SubliJetR cartridges in a SubliJetR box and with a SubliJetR sticker on the cartridge or were they just a black coloured cartridge? If the latter then this is very likely just normal ink...

... or if they were sublimation ink, but not the same brand as what you already had, then your colour will get messed up - mixing different sublimation inks does not work without needing to get a custom ICC profile

But surely they wouldn't get a transfer from normal ink? Must be sublimation.

Lets wait and see once we get a reply...

Posts on here before have commented on getting just light yellow on mugs and that was with a full set of Ricoh inks!

It could be that just the two "replaced" carts are normal and still have two sublimation carts hence why the colours are all over the place.

    Many thanks guys,

Ordered a new printer which is due tomorrow from BMS, theyve been very helpful in working through this problem with me. Fingers crossed this is the end of it.

I tested the other 2 (K and C) in with the other 2 I had in already (M and Y) and printed another mug. All the colours came out poor instead of just magenta and yellow.

    Problem solved?

BMS have always been very supportive to us as well. Let's hope the printer is the issue.
