EPSON L1800 eco Tank or L805 with CISS

    Hello,
Is anybody using these printers (L1800 or L805) as replacements for 1500W and P50?
Are they compatible with 3rd inks (Artainium)
Do they still need CISS as they have installed tanks.
    ICC profile?

I'm looking for 6 colors A4 or A3 printer mainly for 3D film printing compatible with 3rd inks (ArTainium)
Maybe there is other printers in the market most suitable for my need.

    Thank you :)

As far as I know neither are easily available in the UK so it is unlikely that anyone on the forum has either.
The L1800 is basically the 1500w with eco tanks and without the wifi. It is more than twice the price of the 1500w.
There is a thread on the forum started by Inkexpress regarding replacements for the 1500w.

Do a search on the forum and Ink Express (A reputable UK supplier of Sublimation Ink) has some ongoing tests regarding the replacement for a 1500W.

They might be able to assist you.

    Hi,

The L1800 or L805 have an inbuilt eco tank or CISS direct from Epson so no need to fit a CISS yourself. Ensure that ou purchase a new printer, if they are used they may have standard ink inside the ink feed lines which would be a nightmare to get rid of.

The L1800 is based on the 1500W, whilst L805 is based on the P50 models so both can be used with a 3rd party sublimation nik like Artanium or Inktec Sublinova which is what I would recommend.

ICC profiles would most likely be required as they are required with 1500W/P50 printers which are the models these L series printers are based on.

We are currently looking into a good quality, reliable alternative printer to take up where the 1500W left off, L1800 was on our radar but for now we have opted to go for the SC-P600, we have a thread in this forum about it.

    Thanks,
i saw this thread, but there was no review about L1800. As i'm from continental Europe i have option to by L1800 with local warranty. (P600 price is higher for about 200eur)

So looking for reviews on reliable 6 colors printers (L series seems ok from first look (becouse it's build on 1500w, and there is a lot of positive reviews about 1500w but it is EOL), i would prefer A4, to economy the printer costs (mainly using A4 A5 formats)). But as i said it should be working properly with 3d films.

Now i'm using Sawgrass SG400. And i'm not satisfied with it:
    * high printing costs,
    * light printouts with a grey noise (is this becouse of 4 colors system?)
    * i found only several 3d film compatible with it: silver (i have tried 4 suppliers all ok), and semi transparent (this one only from sublimet). Semi transparent from sunfly or caseblank (korean) is not compatible becouse print comes out with too much ink from printer.

So the printer i'm looking for is 6colors for 3d film printing, which could solve the problem i have with sawgrass :)

    ----------
Also is anybody has experience with Artainum and Inktec Sublinova (tried both). Which is better for 3D film printing.

Once more guys, thank you for your comments and help - you are great community here!

If you have easy access to the L1800 then it is the obvious choice. Still way more than the old 1500w, but you will get some money back on the inks if you put them on ebay. You would need to add a cis to the P600 which would increase the cost diffrence by another 100 euros.

    Hi Andrius,

    Go for the L1800.

If we could get them for a decent price we would do the same.

The L1800 is exactly the same as a 1500W internally. Epson have just bolted the kit on and routed the tubing neatly through the casing, so you would get the same high quality results others with the 1500W are getting.

I have used a few brands of 3D film with the Sublinova inks on a 1500W and had good results.
The brand we predominantly use is the InkTec 3D film.

I know @Justin uses 3D film so he may be able to comment further on which films work best with the 1500W.

    Hope this helps.
