Just had my second complaint about a smashed mug in the smash proof boxes!

To cap it, he is saying that they can't be smashproof otherwise they wouldn't break, also he is complaining that it has arrived a day late, he only paid for second class postage, on the 12th at 18.10, my cut off is 14.00hrs, so under my eBay delivery terms, that is classed as 13th, I had until 14th to get it out, in fact I got it out on the 13th, he says he should have received it on the 15th, I have checked his address and no he does not live in cloud cuckoo land!

He is saying he wants it by Tuesday and wants me to post it special delivery, so he can get it by 13.oohrs. I have told him that he needs to pay for the special delivery and that even then it might not get there for 13.00hrs, ho hum!

We've had a lot of this (not sublimation stuff, other stuff we sell on ebay). First of all, I p*ss them off by asking for a photo of the damaged items(s). We tell people that, unless we have positive proof, we will have to wait until the item is returned to us before sending out a replacement and reimbursing the buyer's postage for returning the item.

It's amazing the number of people who must suddenly decide the item is no longer damaged, as we rarely hear from them!

Well this was damaged, he did send me a photo, so no problem there.

I have issued a refund anyway, because there is no way in the world I can guarantee that the replacement would arrive by Tuesday. I was prepared to upgrade the postage to 1st class, but not prepared to pay for Special Delivery!

My first damaged mug, was very interesting, hagain they sent a photo, but it only had a chip out of the rim. Yes I replaced it, but wonder if in fact they did it when opening the smash proof box, after all they are not that easy to get into once they are sealed up!

Was there any damage to the box? Must have been surely for this to chip? I've sent tons of these and never had one back. there are different so called 'smash proof' boxes though and the quality does seem to differ a little.

They didn't send a pic of the box, just the rather strange shaped chip on the rim of the mug!

I get the boxes from Longforte.

Do you put any bubble wrap around the mug?

No, I just put the mug directly in. I used to put a small piece of bubble in to make sure no movement but seem ok without now. Id' certainly want to see the box...but then they'll say you put it in damaged! lol.

I just pop it back into the plastic bag and put it in.

He complained that there was no bubble wrap around it, and I said that there was no need as it is supposed to be a smash proof box.

I have found the pic he sent and they are attached. Looks like the box is alright?

I don't use bubble wrap either, rather than taping directly onto the box I put them in Grey Postage Mailing Bags.

That box in the pic doesn't look like it's taken a hit that would cause that, you would think there would be obvious indentions in the box to get that kind of damage.

Having a better look at the photos, I think he has broken it more. The one in the bag was the first one, I asked him to take it out, and the really smashed up one is the result, but as I said looking at the one in the bag, yes it is broken, but not as much!
