Hello
I'm having a go at sublimation printing on anodised aluminium to use in jewellery. The black text I've tried is coming out more brown black, even though I get a nice black on my mugs (Ricoh and Trupix paper).
I'm using the Hobby Jack, so although I can't tell the temperature exactly I'm setting it at number 9, which I believe is around 200 degs and I'm pressing for 50 seconds. I'm printing with the sublimation paper print down and putting a piece of Teflon over the back of the a.luminium
I've tried at lower temperatures and changing the times but I can't get a deep black - can anyone suggest anything?
Thanks, Mel

Hi
No, it's anodised aluminium sheet for jewellery making, which according to this book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Coloured-Alumin ... +jewellery
you can sublimate and I have tried some printed designs too and they were pretty good for a first go. I did think about buying some sublimation aluminium blanks (I'm lookng to make bracelets and pendants) but I hear they all have a brand logo on the back and that puts me off.

The aluminium needs to have a polymer coating otherwise it wont work. Check out Sublimetals. https://www.sublimetals.co.uk

Re: Getting a dark black on aluminium
I saw they did the bracelet blanks but the logo on the back puts me off. Lots of jewellery used anodized aluminium rather than sublimation aluminium and them use the sublimation ink to transfer their prints.
