Silly question but why is it called a "shaky head" ?

I'd always assumed it was a bad translation for it being either a swing away press, and/or because the top platen is floating.
They're definitely a step up in quality than the cheap chinese clams and swings aways.

So we've setup our new office (our box room) and there isn't as much space as we first thought meaning we are limited to a clam type press now.

Im quite hesitant to buy cheap Chinese now after setting up the 721 cutter yesterday (it feels cheap and sounds like its about to burst into flames) first upgrade graphtec cutter!!

has anyone got the stahls clam basic? Is it big enough for tshirts, hoodies or will it struggle when you come to do x-large sizes upwards?

Obviously the conversation has moved on, but in answer to your question about Longforte...

I have had a few dealings with them and they are good people and I have never had a problem with them. There was one order that went wrong which they sorted immediately so I have no hesitation in recommending them as a supplier. I will say that I have no idea how much they know about sublimation or if they are just resellers but there name has popped up on the forum a few times with good reviews.

A supplier loaned me one of these which was also auto opening, I broke it within the month as the steel used was very low grade. I think there are too many moving parts where too much stress is placed on them to be good long term machines.

Does depend on how good the model of press is, as with any press, there's cheap and nasty as well as good quality ones

Still struggling to find a press, I'm constantly on ebay looking for used bargains but not having much luck yet!
On the plus side I've ordered the Ricoh printer from BMS, great price.

I've got £400 I could use for the press so any recommendations would be welcomed.

Hi. Just to say that we wanted to look into coaster pressing and just bought a lower priced heat press and it is fantastic! Only used a small number of times but coasters press in 60 seconds (perfect sublimation), the thing weighs a tonne and is solidly built, even though it said B grade because of marks we found none and the price was super. Made money back already on it!

Thanks, I can't view ebay in work but I'll take a look tonight.
Another option is the BMS presses, the company seem to have a good reputation on here.
