I think there are threads on here about the Ricoh not being to good with printing stuff that is mainly red. I am not a techy buy any stretch of the imagination but I believe it is something to to with gaumt. I am sure someone will be along soon to tell me I am a mile off. Not much help really am I.

I had a very similar problem when I first installed my printer, without the Rich power driver installed the images were over saturated with too much magenta. Once I had the power driver installed my first print was exactly the same. The solution, change the printer you are sending the print job to from "Ricohxxxx" to "power driver, dont send to the printer which appears before you installed the power driver.

Another tip to help with your colour quality, set the correct white point on the image. In Photoshop use levels and for a really quick fix click "auto" if your white point isnt set then your colour temperatures will be off.


Watch Ben Willmore's Youtube tutorials on using levels in photoshop, its probably the best couple of hours you can spend on learning how to correct colour issues. In fact watch any Ben Willmore tutorials you can find if you are serious about image manipulation.

Thanks for the information. I'm very positive I am sending the print to powerdriver although I can't check this at the moment as I am now a family holiday. I will double check this when I get home.
I will also check out the YouTube video you mention and see if this will help.

It's becoming a bit worrying now as I have used over 30% of my inks in each cartridge and have yet to sell a single thing due to my colour match problem.
I am now wondering if this doesn't work do I just bite the bullet and buy a custom icc though it seems many people don't find the need with the powerdriver installed.

In all honesty I'm about ready to through the towel in as it's becoming an expensive headache and I just think maybe I don't have the correct knowledge for the whole printer, Photoshop, driver setup side of it.

You would think that if you buy a product and buy all the inks and papers with there own driver this would be much less hassle, but I will keep at it for a short time longer.

As for ink, you always use up more ink than normal when first priming your ink channels when setting up a new printer, the ink usage will even out.

Relax on holiday, come back home and get it sorted out.

I hope it something that simple as I'm at my wits end. I have contacted sawgrass via email to see if they can shed some light on it.

Something I have just noticed. When I bought my printer package from MDP it came with sublijet hd inks which seem to be listed for the sawgrass printers and the sublijet r is listed for the Ricoh. Have I been given the wrong inks? Could this be the whole problem?

The HD ink is for use with Virtuoso machines, that looks like your problem. Did you receive what you ordered, or did you ask MDP to supply you with the compatible ink for the printer?

Is your printer badged Sawgrass or Ricoh?
