Who did you buy your 1500W carts from? Any problems with cart chips and Epson updates?

got all mine between a fiver and 25 quide

That would certainly make quite a difference to the decision making

There was no way I would have even considered the RRP and bonus one has the multipurpose unit...... happy days.

I have 2 epson 1500w's, one for sub work (sublinova ink and own profile) and the other for everything else, both with Ciss (from Longforte). The one used for Sub work is over a year old, has taken a hammering and not given a hint of trouble. The ricoh 3110 with sawgrass inks sits on the shelf as a back up, just in case.

Put more work through the 1500w then I ever managed through the piggin, sodding, nasty, awful, waste of space, waste of money 7890......grrr.

I must admit, that when I use mine it is usually for a quantity of A3 size garment prints. Never any problems on longer runs.

The photo below shows what I mean by City Ink Express's ciss being too stubby. The green line on the 1400 shows the level of the bottom of the printhead. This one is full of dye based ink, but I also have a 1500w for sublimation with the same ciss. The bottom of the printheads on the 1500w are very slightly lower than thoseon the 1400, but it is still a problem.

As the ink is fed from the bottom of the bottles of the cis I cannot see what difference the height of the bottles makes.

It will very slowly syphon back into the tank, from the cartridge. Probably not fast enough if you are using it every day, but I was having to charge it too often for it to be tolerable.

Exactly what was happening to me and very infuriating. Also, there were a couple of times the sticky pad holding the ink lines to the top of the print head came loose and I thought I'd broken my printer!

Refillable carts are a bind to keep topping up, but if your printer has decent sized carts then it's only a once-in-a-while procedure and you don't have ugly plastic CISS tanks taking up room on your desk.

As a side note: I used a small cardboard box turned upside-down to cover my CISS tanks for fear that direct sunlight might degrade the inks, seeing as they were in those tanks for a long time.

Raise the level of the ciss gradually. Like I said in an earlier post, I use two Screwfix catalogues to get the right level.
Don't over do it, or the reverse might happen. You could end up dumping ink into your printer.

I had a similar problem with the sticky pads. I used some Very High Bond tape ( MDP sell it ). It is expensive, but I use it anyway so not a problem for me.

Never had a an issue with my Ciss, it is used every day though....literally.
